I used to be really into running back in 2013 and 2014. I went out a couple of times a week and ran anywhere from 5k to 8k at a time. However, half of the time I didn’t enjoy the runs because my pace was too fast, and I generally was too hard on myself. I should have been faster, I should have ran further, I should have been better.
After realizing that was not a healthy mindset to be in, I quit running. At least until about a month and half ago.
I started doing C25K again and – although it wasn’t on the schedule – ran my first 5k yesterday. In the sun. With shorts on. And I enjoyed the run. Which is so much more important to me now.
Here is to more enjoyable runs, long and short ones. It’s true what they say, it doesn’t matter how slow (or far) you go, you’re still beating everyone on the couch.
