2017 Is going to be the year of cruelty-free for me, but 2016 was definitely the year of decluttering. The entire world seemed to be going on a declutter craze as well, and I personally love it.
I know we are in a very fortunate place to be able to decide that we have too much stuff, but I think it’s lovely that there is a movement of people that want to buy less and have a healthier approach to the capitalist society we live in. Don’t get me wrong, I love shopping as much as the next person, but if you buy something for the wrong reasons (it’s on sale, it’ll solve a problem I didn’t know I had) it becomes a problem.
Decluttering has helped me to think more about stuff before I buy it. Do I really need it? Is it going to serve a purpose in my life? Why do I want it so badly? Do I have the money for it? I also tend to buy slightly more expensive items now, but of much better quality. When I decluttered my closet in 2016, I realized how many of my clothes were damaged or worn out after just a few years of wearing them. It’s just not worth it.
How do you feel about decluttering & organizing? Does it make you feel happy? Do you accumulate a lot of stuff in the first place?
